Xinmin Primary School’s Chinese Dance is a CCA with a rich history. We welcome both Chinese and non-Chinese students who exhibit positive attitudes and qualities in this art form. We adopt dance movements from Chinese folklore and classical dance, which emphasize the establishment of a solid foundation in our children and the development of artistic expression and movement by conveying emotions using the body and facial expressions.
Our Chinese Dance students have been very active in the participation of the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and concert performances for various school events and outreach programmes. Apart from the SYF, our Chinese dance members have been actively involved in public performances. We took part in activities such as the National Day dinner organised by Ang Mo Kio – Hougang GRC in 2016 and Chinese New Year Street Parade Show in 2019 in which our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong had graced both the events. We also participated in the National Day dinner at Ang Mo Kio – Hougang GRC in 2018, where our Member of Parliament, Mr Daryl David was the Guest of Honour. The team is also looking forward to our performance in the Esplanade in June 2019.
Through dance, students are able to serve the community and learn the values of resilience and teamwork. Dance art not only embodies the maintenance of the physical fitness in a dancer, but also the cultivation of one’s confidence and overcoming of inner fears. We continue to look forward in our students’ excellence to raise the prestige of Chinese Arts in this modern society!
