Xinmin Primary School’s Choir is also known as Xinmin Nightingales. The choir is a musical ensemble of children who have a passion for singing. The students learn singing skills such as voice projection and pitching. They are exposed to a vast repertoire of songs and develop an appreciation for choral music.
1) To nurture mental, emotional and musical growth through singing.
2) To learn healthy vocal techniques
3) To stimulate self-expressions and creativity
4) To experience music through games and movement activities
5) To perform in school events and encourage confidence through public performances
Xinmin Nightingales is very active in the participation of the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and concerts performance for various school events and outreach programmes.
Apart from SYF, the Xinmin Nightingales also participated in the ABRSM Choral exam last year and achieved a certificate of Distinction. There were also many opportunities to
perform for other schools events like Chinese New Year, National Day, Recognition Day concerts. Xinmin Nightingales also performed in the Performing HeArts concert in 2017
and 2019 which was our school’s biannual concert.
Every performance is an opportunity to build the confidence in our Xinmin Nightingales.Through singing, they learn the values of resilience, responsibility, respect and care. Xinmin Nightingales are working towards excellence in singing and developing a passion for singing.
