2017 Racial Harmony Day
The school has organized various activities to commemorate Racial Harmony Day on 21 July 2017, Friday. The programme is designed to help our students understand that in Singapore, people are treated equally regardless of their race and religion and they should also do the same. Students should appreciate the different cultures that make up Singapore. They will also learn to make friends with people of other races and religions.
This year, the theme for Racial Harmony Day (RHD) is The Singapore Way. As we make the journey from tolerating differences to embracing diversity, our Singapore identity continues to develop. It is important that Racial Harmony is part of this identity and way of life. We continually strive to deepen bonds across and amongst communities. It is important that our youth, on whose shoulders our future lies, make Racial Harmony a key aspect of their hopes and dreams for what Singapore is and could be.
On that day, the school is transformed into the olden Singapore where students get to be exposed to the different traditional occupations in the past. Students had a lot of fun playing the good old kampong games such as the paper aeroplane, the chapteh, hens and chicks as well as the snake and ladder. Traditional crafts such as the Bungga Rampai and Kolam were also introduced and students were delighted to make these crafts and bring them home as meaningful souvenirs. The students and teachers also enjoyed the wide array of traditional food of the different races served on that day.
