Infocomm Club
“Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains.”
— Bill Gates, Co-Chairman, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Co-Founder, Microsoft

At Xinmin Primary School, the Infocomm Technology CCA aims to nurture logical problem solvers by instilling the joy of coding and programming. Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and computational skills that prepare them for an increasingly digital world.
The Infocomm Club is designed for students who are passionate about coding and technology. Using LEGO SPIKE™ Prime, students build a strong foundation in programming while developing key 21st-century competencies such as collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
Middle primary students begin their learning journey with block-based programming. At the beginner level, they are introduced to foundational coding concepts such as sequencing, motors, sensors, loops, and conditionals. These experiences help them develop computational thinking while encouraging creativity and teamwork.
At the intermediate level, students build on their foundational knowledge by exploring more advanced coding concepts. They also prepare for competitions through activities such as flowcharting, strategy development, and hands-on problem-solving, strengthening both their logical thinking and resilience.
Upper primary students further deepen their learning by designing and building robots using sensors, motors, and mechanical components. They apply their creativity and imagination to complete tasks such as navigating routes and manipulating objects. In the process, students integrate concepts from Mathematics and Science—such as angles, light, and speed—demonstrating meaningful interdisciplinary learning.
Through these experiences, students learn to collaborate effectively, communicate their ideas clearly, and persevere through challenges. They grow into confident and responsible team players who learn from one another.
The Infocomm Technology CCA provides a dynamic platform for students to develop both technical competencies and essential life skills, equipping them with the mindset and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
